This is terrible news. Andy was the unarmed combat instructor on my QL3 Course. He was a true professional who had a great passion for his job, and who really loved teaching us how to survive pain and to fight through anything to survive. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Andy will be remembered by many, and each for our own reasons. I had the pleasure of working with Andy at CFSIS, but my fondest memory of him involved his work with kids; specifically the Scouting movement. I have very vivid memories of Andy leading a group of Beavers in a song that started, "Hello, my name is Joe, and I work all day in a button hole factory............." Our son, Jason, who turned 33 today has strong, lifetime memories of this very special and gifted man.

Andy is missed in our family, and will not be forgotten.

We will remember!

To Sharon and the family, please accept our sincere condolences as you deal with your loss. May you find strength in knowing he is loved and respected by many people he touched over the years.

I will always remember Andy as a straight shooting guy who said what he thought. He took great pride in his work and always gave his best. He was a tuff teacher, but fair. I can still clearly remember when he instructed weapons on my CP course; he never gave you an easy pass on anything, nor was he easy on himself to ensure he gave you his best.

Condolences to Andy’s family and his many friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Andy's death. As a 17 year old I learned a great deal from Andy when he was my room mate on my 3's course. Tucker Rogers, Andy and I. As expected, I listened a hell of a lot more than I spoke but they did let me speak the odd time. Andy always used me as a practice dummy in the shack for his unarmed combat skills. When I saw that Kish-tache start twitching I knew I was in for the ol double arm bar or something of the sort.... Mr Vincent beating the heck out of you in PT class during the day and Andy cleaning up on you in the shack at night! Looking back I can say I LOVED IT as did Andy! Andy, thanks for everything and goodbye my friend. P.S. I still can't eat a draft glass Andy!

Has anyone come across an online obit? I've searched since Steve's initial posting and have come up empty.

It is with great sorrow to learn of Andy Kish passing on the 02 Jul 10. I first met Andy in Comox 1975, he was a young Private working as the PMQ Cop. As the NCO IC Invest Section, he worked many hours with us sorting out the teens in the PMQ patch. Andy was a dedicated and loyal MP. He knew the kids and they trusted him, Andy had a way with them that the rest of us only wished we had. Everytime I met with Andy he always had a smile and a firm handshake, he will be missed by all who knew him. To his family please accept my condolences for your great loss. I spoke with his son-in-law, Jeff Fox today, I am just sorry that I did not get to pay my respects at his memorial service. Rest well my friend, God Bless.

I was truly shocked to hear of Andy's passing. Andy was one of my students in Lahr when he was being trained for Close Protection Duties. He took over my house in Germany when he got posted there. I had nothing but great respect for the man. This is a great loss and he will truly be missed. I am so sorry to hear that he will not be with us any longer. I will truly miss him. My sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace my friend.

Andy was our unarmed combat instructor on my 5's. Besides being a very powerful man, we was a great leader and teacher.

I fondly remember one unarmed combat class where he challenged one of the students to try his best to place him in a "reverse goose neck" wrist hold for which Andy was trying to illustrate that one needs the "element of surprise" to apply an effective hold. The student who's initials are: Paul Powers, decided to go a different route by first backfisting Andy in his solarplex' causing him to lose his breath then the student promptly applied the RGN. We all stepped back as Andy was regaining his composure and when he caught his breath, he said "I wasn't expecting that". He took it like a trooper and still got his point across.

Andy, you have had a great impact on countless students and peers and your early passing is a great loss. You will be missed.

God bless.

How sad, so very sad to hear my friend passed away. I've been out of touch with the MP family since 1984 and on occasion peek in CAMPVets just to bring back a few good memories. In Andy's case my brother Joe contacted me from Ottawa to advise of this sad news.

Andy and I worked together in Shearwater a 100 years ago and I can remember the last day spent together having a Bar-B-Q with his family before he was posted on. Remain strong Sharon & family. Your loved one was a very special person.

Even though time has passed Andy and the final chapter closed in your life, I will never forget your kindness, professionalizm, love for your family and friends, and your funny laugh.

God bless you, my friend!

Sad news to hear about Andy Kish passing on. I was never posted with Andy but had the pleasure of attending a couple of course with him. Andy was a well liked and respected guy. He will be sadly missed by all members of the Security Branch who knew him. My condolences to his family.

Rest in peace my friend.
